Fri 22nd Sep – Day 23 – Tour Day 7 - Bilbao, Costa Vasca and San Sebastián

Another long day but a short note tonight.

Someone phoned me again at around 5am. I have the sound turned off, so it’s the vibration that wakes me, just as the call disconnects.

Went down to breakfast just before 8. A small spread for such a big hotel but a good variety. I opted for hot food and some pastries today. Back to my room to collect the hand luggage and then went downstairs about 0845 and my main luggage was still outside my door, as was some others but they were all in one corridor and my room was at the end of another corridor and around the corner. I assume that Rory marks off the luggage for all of us, before we depart.

A wet day today. It was a lovely sunrise though.

 but the rain started just before 0900. According to the bus temp. It’s 14c outside.

We arrived in Bilbao just before 1100 and we have 2 hrs here. Some people are going into the museum, others like me will wander around outside. 

It started raining but thankfully not heavily. I still had my raincoat on from earlier, so managed to stay dry. After 5 minutes or so, I took refuge in the museum, as I had left my brolly on the bus. The rain had stopped just before midday. 

I walked over the road from the museum to a cafe to have a bite to eat & something to drink. Thankfully the seating is under cover, as it’s showering again.

We are all meet again at 1300, to get on the bus and continue on our way.

Next stop is Getaria, a small fishing village, where we will spend about an hour. The heavens have opened again.

The next leg should take about 90 minutes.

We had a lunch break here. Getaria is a lovely little fishing village. I had lunch with Pieta and Barry & we had tapas, wine & beer. Euro 36 for the 3 of us.

Back in the bus at 3:30. 

I don't recall what time we arrived at our hotel but my main luggage was delivered at 5pm and we were out again at 5:45pm for an included walking tour and then some of us had an optional dinner.  

I did take some photos during our walk but they aren't uploading and its another early start tomorrow.  If I have time, I might edit this & add the night photos, so I'm saying goodnight for now.

I meant to mention that the San Sebastián Film Festival started here today and some other conference also. 2 bus loads of the people are staying at our hotel and there are police and security men in dark suits talking into their watches, all over the place here at the hotel.
