I was woken at 5am. Someone in Perth calling me. Rolled over and went back to sleep until the alarm went off.
Thankfully I didn’t wash my hair this morning, as when I turned the hair dryer on to get a kink out of my dry hair, it started smoking. I turned it off quick smart and let reception know that there is a problem.
Bag out at 8am and down to breakfast. Checked out after that.
We were all on the coach and departed shortly after 9am.
Mondonevo 10:53 morning stop. 16c
Away again at 11:51 and 18c.
We were delayed departing as one of the women had a fall and one of the other passengers is a medico. Joy was very apologetic but these things happen. Thankfully she wasn’t seriously hurt.
We have been passing lots of eucalyptus forests this morning. It’s a big industry in this part of Spain apparently. Lots of pampas grass growing on the side of the roads too.
Rory got us to fill in our flight details for the last day of the tour. He is getting in very early.
13:36. I keep forgetting to mention times. This is our lunch stop. First up was a visit to the place where they make their apple cider. The guide spoke only Spanish so Rory, would then tell us in English what she said. You get the gist. :)
We tasted the apple cider when we went next door for lunch.
By now the temp was a pleasant 25c and the local guide joined us on the bus at 16:00. Rory departed and walked to the hotel to arrange things. The local guide took us on a bus tour of some main sites, then we all disembarked from the coach, so our luggage could be delivered and we went on a walking tour of Oviedo.
Other facts that I do recall are that Woody Allen has a statue here.
The city centre is the highest part of the town.
The architect Santiago Calatravo, created this building or buildings, which are the Oviedo Congress and Exhibitions Center
There is also a Music festival of St Matthew held in September.
Some other random photos.
That's it from me for today.
Another travel day tomorrow. Visiting Covadonga, Santillana del Mar and ending in Santander
