Fri Sept 8 – Day 9 - Tour Day 7 - La Beauce and Chartres to Paris, City of Light. Part 1

After getting up this morning and before breakfast, I managed to get onto Telstra’s webmail and block and delete the junk mail that had come in overnight. Ever since Telstra updated their website, the amount of junk mail coming in every day is horrendous. Previously I would sometimes receive perhaps 5 or 6 a month. I’m now receiving 6 or 7 everyday. I had close to 200  all up in August. That’s my rant for the day.

Breakfast was at 7 this morning and we were on the bus by 8 and departed Samsur. The trip back to Paris today is just a lot of driving and countryside. We are driving via Le Mans. To pass the time, Elisabeth has put a film on for us to watch.  “A Foreign Field”. Alec Guinness, Lauren Bacall, Leo McKern, Geraldine Chapman, Jeanne Moreeau and I'm not sure who the other 2 main actors were. A nice post war movie, with some great actors starring.

10:45 we had a highway pit stop to buy lunch, coffee etc., if need be, though the lunch stop is at Chartres. We departed just after 10am. About an hours drive to Chartres. We will be meeting in the Cathedral at 12:30. Before that Lucia and I sat in the shade on a stone seat and ate our panini lunch. We then went for a walk down the side streets. I bought a magnet and we found a little cafe and had a coffee.  Then wandered back to the cathedral to meet our guide.

Once the included tour was over, we all departed the cathedral on time and then walked back to the bus. Rudy only had the front door open, as today is another hot one. 34c and as the bus hasn’t had any shade he isn’t taking any chances, after yesterdays delay. We left Chartrese at 1:40pm.  There was some modern art in one of the parks.

We hit the outskirts of Paris around 2:30ish and arrived at our hotel 4:30ish.

I’m doing the optional to ‘La Nouvelle Eve Cabaret & Dinner this evening, so

It will be late when we get back to there hotel, so I’ll only be posting the days activities  until we get to the hotel in Paris.

As I’m transferring back to the Le Meridien tomorrow, before joining my next tour on Sunday, I’ll update the rest of tonight’s activities, when I have the time tomorrow.

Night all
