I woke just after 6 this morning and didn't go down to breakfast until about 7:30-8am. A very nice spread and they have a chef or cook doing fresh omelettes. I wasn't especially hungry, so just had an omelette, juice and coffee.
I checked at reception and the check out time is midday, so I have plenty of time, though Elisabeth suggested that around 10:30 would be a reasonable time to take a taxi back to Le Meridien Etoile Paris.
I decided to take a walk over to the Bercy Village, which is about 50 metres from the hotel. The last time I was here was in 2012. There is a new multi-storey apartment block with underground parking that has been built since I was here and over at the Village a new movie theatre.
The pool in front of the hotel.
I decided to check-out of the hotel and reception arranged a taxi for me, which was pulling into the drive-way as I exited the hotel. The driver spoke English, though I did have some difficulty understanding some of the things that he said.
It took about 30 minutes to get to the Le Meridien Etoile but check in isn't until 3pm, so I stored my luggage and went for a walk. Not a very long walk either, as the weather again is very warm and humid. I found a little play/exercise park area not far from the hotel.
I was starting to feel peckish and as I couldn't see anything of interest on a couple of restaurant menu's I decided to head back to the hotel and see what was on offer at their restaurant. I decided on a "Petite" Caesar salad. I'm glad that I didn't order the regular size, as I had trouble finishing the "petite" one. Very delicious and washed down with a glass of Chardonnay. I relaxed in the foyer after that, doing some people watching. At 2pm I went to reception and yes, there was a room ready, so I officially checked in. This room is at the end of a corridor and overlooks this.
I'll just keep the drapes closed. :)
That's my room, bottom right.
I haven't been watching any TV since I left home last week, so am not sure what is happening in the world.
I've decided to have an early night tonight, so I'm ready for the next tour.
