We departed Amiens at 9:30 and were soon at Villers-Bretonneux. We stopped at the Franco-Australian museum in the local Victoria School.
This school was built with the financial help of Victorian school children. Donating a penny each, the amount raised was 12,500 pounds.
After that visit we were on our way to Le Hamel at 10:40. The General Sir John Monash Centre.
After visiting the museum I had time to have lunch and a wander. We departed there at 12:35 on our way back to Paris.
At 13:45 we came to a bit of a stop approaching a toll point on the highway. 3 lanes taken up by trucks and the other 6 or 7 having cars in those lanes.
Some people were being dropped at the airport hotels. The Holiday Inn and the Sheraton. We took the scenic tour around the airport and found our way to the Holiday Inn Express but trying to get to the Sheraton was far more difficult. In the end the couple were dropped near the terminal that they could enter and take the elevator down the level of the Sheraton reception. That was around 14:38ish.
After that we followed the blue signs to the A1 and Paris. Charles de Gaulle airport is MASSIVE. I’ve never seen it in daylight hours before.
We arrived at Le Meridien Etoile Paris around 10 past 3 and I was checked in and in my room by 20 past 3. I think I’ll have dinner in the hotel restaurant tonight.
